This project envisions a small-scale airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands, conceived as a gateway that embodies the essence of Caribbean island life. Departing from the technological image of conventional terminals, the building is designed as a natural extension of its paradisiacal setting, offering travelers a seamless spatial experience from arrival to departure.

The outdoor access emphasizes human scale and environmental integration, using the island’s lush vegetation as a compositional element to create shaded and rain-protected areas, enhancing comfort while reinforcing the connection with the site.

Drawing inspiration from vernacular colonial architecture, the building features steeply pitched roofs that facilitate rapid drainage during tropical storms. The high ceilings promote passive ventilation by storing warm air above and encouraging airflow, while the architectural strategy maximizes filtered natural light, creating a luminous and thermally balanced interior aligned with sustainable tropical design principles.
