The construction of a new dwelling supported by an existing typical house in La Mancha, which serves as a basis, is solved with a new slab resting over existing walls. The new one works functionally as it is organized in programmatical axis for serving or living spaces.
Above the squared footprint of the existing house and after retiring its roof, a new slab is built supported by the structure walls. We borrow a room downstairs to home a new entrance with the vertical communications (stairs + lift) to access the new upstairs dwelling.
The main character of the house comes from its organization in orthogonal axis with different thickness. It alternates narrow bands holding circulations, bathrooms and storage, with wider stripes housing the main rooms of the house, crossed over in two perpendicular directions. The result is a 5×5 grid (3+2, 3+2) that solves with flexibility the program always from a functional perspective. In addition, an interior patio aims to answer to the lack of light in the inner parts
