LM House, 2013

  • Use: Detached House
  • Location: Cadiz
  • Area: 210 m2

In order to design a house that could easily grow in the medium term. We raise the building up to the first floor in order to create a large terrace area on the ground floor that could easily become an extra opened or closed space depending on the clients necessity.

  • The plot has a dimension of 20x37m and a north to south orientation and is conditioned by the Levante wind, blowing from the east.

In addition, the client wanted a house that could easily grow in the medium termavoiding the pitfalls of a major site work.

By arrangingthe building as three independent pavilions oriented parallel north to south we achieve the following advantages:
    - The resultingdwellings and plots are equal and have the same orientation. There will be no distinction between brothers!
    - This arrangement minimizes the exposure of their facade to the wind.
    - The larger facades of the buildings are oriented north-south.
    - All of thethree pavilions are exempt, with their individual private garden.

Our proposal was to raise the building upto the first floor to create a large terracearea on the ground floor that could easily become an extra room with a simple glazing.

In order shelterthe gardens from the wind we create a big thick wall that protects open spaces on windy days and houses access, clothes drying areas and the stairs of the apartments.
